When We Finally Got Rain

On the 30th March we finally got rain after about a month or two without it. Mum asked me to put our new rain gauge up before it rained so we could tell how much rain we had got. Over 24 hours we had 60 mils of rain and about 90 mils all up. Our pond that had absolutely no water in it now is half full. Where the lawn was dead, now there are little green sprouts of grass. Another good thing is that we had thunder and lightening which the electricity helps grow the grass. When I went outside on the morning of the 1st of April I saw that there were heaps of puddles on the ground and that the river was up. Everything had a good soaking. Dad is extremely pleased and wants more rain so that the grass grows a little bit more and the stock will be just a little bit fatter before weaning time of the calves. We don’t want too much though otherwise you get the other extreme which is too much and then you get slips which will ruin your pasture. Overall we are extremely pleased with the rain.

When I Went To The Interprovincials

Over Easter I had interprovincials for athletics. Connor and I hopped on the bus at Stratford. My friend Scott Murfit had already jumped on at New Plymouth. We listened to music and some of the kids played the guitar on the way down. When we got to Wanganui we went and signed in at our motel. Connor and I had room number 66. We discovered that we had hot chocolates and we soon had an idea that we would raid all the other kid’s rooms for hot chocolates! Connor and I had a stash of about 20 hot chocolate sachets. Then we went to have a look at the track and see all the facilities there. Then we went back to the motel and chilled out for a while till tea time. We had a big tea. We watched Transformers the movie and went to bed. In the morning we got up early and went to the track. All the teams were there. Form southland to Northland and all in between. I had three events that day; they were 400m, 800m and shot put. I ran my 400m in 62.5 seconds. Next I had 1500m and I did that in 4.56 minutes. Then I had shot put. After all of the other people from our team had finished their events we all went back to the motel. We were playing around at the motel and the team managers said “who wants a game of touch on the field?” We all agreed to play and it was 13 year olds versus 12 year olds. I was in the 12 year old team and we got smashed but we didn’t care. Then we watched TV and went to sleep. In the morning we had to have breakfast then we went to the track. I only had one event today and it was the 800m. I ran it in 2.25 minutes and got third. Then we had the medley relay and we got second to last. After the day was over we went back to the motel and had a shower and got ready for the disco. When we went to the disco there was heaps of cool lights and music and there were heaps of people dancing so we joined in. . We went back at 12 o’clock and then the Easter bunny came and gave us some chocolate. It was yummy. The next day we went on the hydro slides and then we hopped on the bus to go home. On the way home we watched the Simpsons movie

Poeple Shouldn't Be Allowed To Drive Petrol Cars Essay

I think that people shouldn’t be able to drive petrol cars. There are many reasons why people shouldn’t be allowed to and I am going to give you some of the reasons why people shouldn’t.
I think that people shouldn’t be able to drive petrol cars. There are many reasons why people shouldn’t be allowed to and I am going to give you some of the reasons why people shouldn’t.
First of all there would be no global warming. This is great because there would be less drought and more green grass. This would be great for farmers.
Second there would be a better environment and fresher air. If we had fresher air everyone would be healthier and live longer lives.
Some people may argue that they couldn’t go as fast. This is a pathetic argument because if you go too fast you will crash!
Trucking companies also have some plusses to this argument. Their trucks would be cheaper to run. With petrol and diesel prices so high the trucks would end up cheaper to run. There would also be less maintenance like checking the fuel lines.
Even the petrol companies would have a couple of points on the good side. With power prices so high people would buy petrol powered generators to charge their cars up.
The car lovers would also like it because their cars would be cheaper to run. There would be no huge petrol bills that would keep them from having a cool car.
Of course there would be plusses for the electric motor engineers. They would have more money. With people buying electric powered cars their sales would go through the roof! They would have smarter employees. This would make the companies have more improved motors. They would also have more factories. This would allow them to make even more money.
So as you have read from the many points in my essay the world would be a better place with no petrol cars.

When I got selected for the taranaki interprovincial team

On the same weekend as the Taranaki champs for athletics they named the Taranaki interprovincial team. I was at discuss when they named them. When they called out my name I was happy. We had to go to a meeting to tell us all about what is going to happen. We got a letter providing information and what we need on the trip to Whanganui. We got some chocolates to sell to help fundraise for the bus trip down. We sold all of our chocolates on the way home! We made 52 dollars. I read the letter and we had to fill in whether we would be available to go to the interprovincials (I ticked that box!). they also wanted to know if you are allergic to any foods and all that kind of stuff. We have to pay 250 dollars plus we have to buy some track pants and they will put taranaki on them as part of the uniform. The interprovincials are held every year and are open to 12and 13 year olds who have been selected to compete for their province. My events will be 1500m run, 800m run and 400m sprint. I can’t wait.
